A vacancy has arisen for a Part-Time Textiles Technician based in Secondary School. This role is to commence as soon as possible.
The role is to facilitate learning in the textiles department by:
* Organisation and preparation of the room during lesson transition, this includes cleaning, setting up and packing away resources
* Material preparation including cutting of fabric, mixing dyes and paints, fixing materials and removing batik wax, organisation of drying dyed materials, stretching of screens and silk and washing of silk screens
* CAD/CAM print/stitch outs especially stitch outs from the embroidery machine
* Threading up textile machines including the embroidery machine, overlocker and sewing machines
* Development of the learning environment especially putting up wall displays and displaying work
* Procurement of consumables
Working days would be two days per week from 7.30am until 3pm (not a Friday) although the successful candidate must be prepared to work flexibly at busy times of the academic year.
Candidates should have GCSE’s or equivalent, Secondary School Leavers certificate or equivalent and be under spouse’s sponsorship. Previous experience of working in textiles and with children is not essential but would be an advantage.
